Adjustable Caravan Screen Door Handle – Cross Bar Grab Handle
If you spend any time in a caravan you already know the two little frustrations this cross bar fixes. First, the entry door is fully open, you're sitting or standing inside, and the original door handle is just out of reach — so you end up leaning out or stepping down to grab it and pull the door closed. Second, every time you do reach the door, you're pulling the whole thing shut using the original locking handle, which puts load on the one part you don't want to wear out.
This adjustable caravan screen door handle solves both. It's an extra horizontal grab bar that mounts across the inside of your screen, security or mesh door. It doesn't replace your normal locking handle — it simply gives you a proper full-width bar to push and pull the door with. It's one of those simple caravan accessories that you wonder how you did without.
Close the door easily from inside
With the cross bar fitted, you no longer have to reach for the original handle at the far edge of the door. Sit or stand inside, take hold of the bar, and pull the screen door towards you. It's an easy grab point that's right where your hand naturally goes — handy when you're getting in and out, or when the door is open and the handle is awkward to reach.
Take the strain off your original door handle
Caravan entry door locks have several moving parts. When the cross bar becomes your everyday grab point, you're no longer dragging the whole door around by the locking handle every time. This helps reduce unnecessary pulling force on the original handle and lock mechanism through normal daily use. (It's a practical upgrade, not a repair — it won't fix or guarantee a lock, but it does give the handle an easier life.)
Adjustable 550–730mm to suit different doors
The bar telescopes so you can set it to your door. The end pieces slide along the centre bar, giving an adjustable mounting span from 550mm to 730mm, with a comfortable 260mm centre grip cover. That range covers a lot of common Australian and New Zealand caravan screen/security doors, including popular 622mm-wide doors (as used on many Camec Odyssey/Aero, Dometic CaraD and Aussie Traveller DCE doors) and narrower 572mm doors.
Please measure first. A door's stated width isn't always the exact flat distance available between the two points where the end brackets will sit. Before ordering, measure the mounting distance on your own screen/security door and check it falls within 550–730mm.
Simple to fit
Mounting hardware is included. In short: slide the end pieces onto the bar so the screw holes line up, measure your door with it closed, set the bar to length, position the brackets and fix them with the supplied screws. If your door is narrower than the parts, they can be trimmed shorter. Before you drill, double-check the position doesn't interfere with the door lock, mesh, frame, blind, seals or the way the main door operates.

Frequently Asked Questions
A horizontal grab bar that mounts across the inside of your caravan's screen, security or mesh door. It gives you an extra handle to push and pull the door with, separate from the original locking handle.
The original locking handle has several moving parts and usually sits at the edge of the door. Using the cross bar as your everyday grab point means you're not dragging the whole door around by the lock, and you have a bar that's easier to reach — especially when the door is open.
No. It's an additional grab bar. Your existing locking handle and latch stay exactly as they are.
The bar adjusts from 550mm to 730mm, covering many common Australian and New Zealand caravan doors, including popular 622mm-wide doors and narrower 572mm doors. Very wide doors (around 878mm) are outside this range.
Many Camec doors (such as Odyssey and Odyssey Aero) are 572mm or 622mm wide, which falls inside the range. Because the actual flat mounting distance can be less than the door's overall width, please measure your door before ordering rather than relying on the model name.
Common Dometic CaraD and Aussie Traveller DCE doors are 622mm wide, which is within range. Fit still depends on the mounting distance available on your specific door, so measure first.
With the screen door closed, measure the flat distance between the two points where you'd mount the end brackets. If that's between 550mm and 730mm, the handle will adjust to suit.
Yes. The brackets are screw-fixed and the instructions show drilling the mounting holes. Before drilling, check the position doesn't interfere with the door lock, mesh, frame, blind, seals or the operation of the main door.
Yes — 4 × ST4.2 × 16mm and 10 × ST3.5 × 16mm screws are supplied.
Yes — caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers and RVs, as long as the screen/security door's mounting distance is within 550–730mm.
