Silver Aluminium Double Caravan Step
Why two steps are worth it
This double caravan step gives you two comfortable steps up to the door instead of one big climb from the ground. The wide aluminium treads give you a solid place to put your foot, making it easier to get in and out of the van, especially when you're carrying gear or travelling with kids. The silver aluminium finish also suits caravans with checker plate and alloy trim.
Aluminium treads with a solid steel frame
The two treads are aluminium with a ribbed, non-slip surface, so they give you grip in the wet and won't rust up on you. Underneath, the folding frame is steel finished in powder-coated black, which is the part that carries the load and takes the knocks. Put together it stays light at around 8 kg, so it's easy to hold up while you bolt it on, and it's rated to a maximum static load of 200 kg. That's plenty of headroom for adults and gear.
Simple to use, nothing to power
This is a manual step, and a lot of caravanners like it that way. You flip the treads out by hand when you set up and fold them away before you leave. There's no motor, no wiring and nothing to draw off your batteries, so there's nothing electrical to fail when you're a long way from home. A pair of springs does the hard work of folding it up and holds it steady once it's out, which you can see in the mechanism photos.
Folds flat for travel
When you're packing up, the steps fold up under the doorway and sit out of the way. Folded, it projects about 371 mm and stands about 280 mm high. Open, it reaches about 693 mm out from the mount with a total drop of roughly 324 mm across the two treads.
Dimensions and mounting
Before you buy, have a proper look at the dimension drawings in the image gallery, since they're the best way to check it'll suit your van. The main figures are:
- Overall width: about 540 mm
- Reach when open: about 693 mm
- Total drop when open: about 324 mm across the two steps
- Folded projection: about 371 mm
- Folded height: about 280 mm
It bolts on, and the mounting bolts are included. The mounting rail has a run of round and slotted holes to suit 12 mm bolts, and the slots let you shuffle it into the right spot as you fit it. Before you drill, make sure the mount is strong enough to take the load and check there's room underneath for the steps to fold up and drop down cleanly. Plenty of people fit it themselves, but if you'd rather not get under the van, any caravan repairer will sort it out.
Will it suit your van?
It suits a wide range of caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes, but it isn't a fit-anything step, so it pays to check first. Measure the area where it needs to go and compare that with the open and folded sizes above. If you're not certain, get in touch before you order and we'll help you work out whether it's a good match.
Looking after it
There's very little to it. Rinse off dust and salt after a trip and let it dry before you fold it away. Now and then, run over the mounting and pivot bolts to check they're tight and keep the moving joints clean. It comes with a 1-year warranty, so if anything isn't right, let us know and we'll take care of it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this step fit my caravan?
It suits a wide range of caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes, but it isn't a fit-anything step. Measure where you want it to go and check it against the drawings first. As a guide it's about 540 mm wide, reaches around 693 mm when open, and folds to about 371 mm out by 280 mm high. If you're not sure, send us a message and we'll help.
Is it electric or manual?
It's fully manual. You flip the steps out when you set up and fold them away before you leave. There are no motors or wiring involved.
How much weight can it hold?
It's rated to a maximum static load of 200 kg, so there's plenty of room for adults and gear. Step on and off steadily rather than jumping onto it and it'll serve you well.
What is it made of?
The treads are aluminium with a ribbed non-slip surface, and the folding frame is steel finished in powder-coated black. That keeps it light to handle while the frame carries the load.
Why choose a double step over a single?
On a taller van the drop to the ground is often too big for one step. A double splits it into two shorter steps, which is easier and safer for kids, older travellers and anyone with their hands full.
Does it fold away for travel?
Yes. The two steps fold up flat under the doorway. Folded, it sits about 371 mm out and stands about 280 mm high, so it stows tidily. Check those figures against your clearance and departure angle.
What are the open and folded sizes?
Open, it reaches about 693 mm out with a total drop of roughly 324 mm over the two treads. Folded, it's about 371 mm out and 280 mm high, and the overall width is around 540 mm. The dimension drawings in the images show the lot.
How does it mount, and are the bolts included?
It bolts on, and yes, the mounting bolts are included. The rail has round and slotted holes to suit 12 mm bolts, with the slots giving you a bit of adjustment. It needs to go onto a strong chassis point or a solid step mount under the door.
Can I fit it myself?
If you're happy working under a van, most people fit it without trouble. Just make sure the mount is strong enough, check there's clearance for the steps to fold and drop, and do the bolts up properly. Otherwise any caravan repairer will fit it quickly.
Are the treads slippery when wet?
The aluminium treads have a ribbed non-slip surface, so you keep grip in the rain, in the dark or with muddy boots.
How much does it weigh?
Around 8 kg, so it's easy to handle while you're fitting it and it adds very little to your rig weight.
How do I look after it?
Rinse off dust and salt after trips and let it dry before folding it away. Keep the bolts tight and the moving joints clean, and it'll keep folding smoothly for years.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes, it's backed by a 1-year warranty.
